Today’s report is review of the Trnava Bulldogs recent competition versus the Košice Steelers on 14.04.18 in Trnava.

Dnešná správa je súhrnom posledného zápasu Trnava Bulldogs proti Košiciam Steelers zo 14.4.2018.

After another week of preparation and player development. The Trnava Bulldogs were faced against solid group of players from the Košice Steelers who were aggressive and more forced than we the Bulldogs.

Po ďalšom týždni príprav a zlepšovania hráčov sme nastúpili proti solídnej skupine hráčov z Košice Steelers, ktorí boli agresívnejší a mali väčšiu túžbu vyhrať ako my Bulldogs.

From my perspective we were still enjoying and living off the excitement from last weeks’ 14-0 victory over the Nitra Knights. As a team we have to ready and prepared for the next opponent and forget any previous victories. I believe we came into this Steelers game confident and maybe we underestimated our opponents and it showed later in the game.

 Z môjho pohľadu sme si ešte stále užívali výhru z posledného týždňa 24-0 proti Knights. Ako tím sa musíme vždy pripraviť na ďalšieho súpera a zabudnúť na predchádzajúce výhry. Podľa môjho názoru sme išli do zápasu proti Steelers so sebadôverou a možno sme podcenili súpera, čo sa neskôr ukázalo v zápase.  

From the start we played incredible Defense, leading off with multiple turnovers including an interception returned for a touchdown. With a 7-0 lead the defense continued to battle, but the offense was still lacking productivity, ending multiple offensive drive with consecutive turnovers.

Od začiatku sme hrali výborne v obrane, získali sme niekoľkokrát loptu od útoku Steelers, vrátane interception vrátenej do touchdownu. S náskokom 7-0 defenzíva stále pracovala na plné obrátky, avšak chýbala nám produktivita v útoku, kde sme viacero driveov zakončili stratou lopty.

However, the Bulldogs offense manage to capitalize on one of the defenses turnovers which put the offense in great field position to score.  With the lead being 14-0 entering halftime, I felt as a team we needed to understand it was time to make the game out of reach and add more points to the score board.  Also, how important turnovers were.

Útoku sa konečne podarilo pridať body, keď využil výbornú pozíciu na ihrisku získanú obranou Bulldogs. Ako sme išli do polčasovej prestávky s náskokom 14-0, potrebovali sme ako tím pochopiť, že je čas tento zápas rozhodnúť pridaním ďalších bodov ako aj udržať loptu v našich rukách.

During the 2^nd half of the game we slowly melted and lost focus, as the Steelers began to gain confident after every turnover. We were out scored 23 points in the 2^nd half with more than 6 total turnovers, with one fumble recovery for a Steelers touchdown.

V druhom polčase sme začali robiť chyby a strácať sústredenosť zatiaľ čo Steelers získavali sebadôveru po každej našej strate lopty. Steelers nás prehrali o 23 bodov v druhom polčase, s viac ako 6 stratami lopty na našej strane, kde jeden z fumblov Steelers vrátili až do endzóny.

I am very disappointed with our overall performance, and the lack of character we showed as we faced adversity during the 2^nd half of the game. I want the give the Steelers credit for fighting the end and giving us a battle. This game was a test of #DESIRE and #DETERMINATION and the Steelers provide they wanted the victory more than we did. As Head Coach I take full responsibility for the lack of preparation and productivity of the team. The Trnava Bulldogs football team go’s as I (their leader) go’s… I own that responsibility.

Som veľmi sklamaný z nášho výkonu v druhom polčase, ako aj z mentality, ktorú sme ukázali, keď sme začali prehrávať. Chcem pogratulovať Steelers, že sa nevzdali v druhom polčase a bojovali až dokonca. Tento zápas bol testom túžby po víťazstve a odhodlania, kde Steelers ukázali, že chceli vyhrať viac ako my. Ako hlavný tréner preberám plnú zodpovednosť za nedostatočnú prípravu ako aj produktivitu tímu. Tím Trnava Bulldogs ma (ako jeho lídra) nasleduje… ja preberám túto zodpovednosť.

Looking forward we will get back to practice and work on something and get better prepared and mentally focused to face the Zvolen Patriots in an away match. This will be our first regular season match on the road as visitors without our home crowd supporting us. It will be another test of character and heart so we most prepare our best and expect to battle until the last whistle. I hope we all understand and learned a lesson from this loss, we cannot underestimate any opponent and we most play our hearts out every game.

V najbližších dňoch sa vrátime na tréningy, aby sme sa pripravili a mentálne sústredili na ďalší zápas vonku proti Zvolen Patriots. Toto bude náš prvý zápas túto sezónu na ihrisku súpera bez podpory našich domácich divákov. Bude to ďalší test charakteru a srdca, preto sa musíme pripraviť najlepšie ako vieme a očakávať tvrdý súboj až do posledného hvizdu píšťalky. Dúfam, že sme sa všetci poučili z tejto prehry, že nemôžeme podceniť žiadneho súpera a že musíme „nechať na ihrisku všetko“.
