I wish to keep you all informed on the currently team development and the building process in which the Trnava Bulldogs are under going. We are currently positioned in a great spot in the Slovak American Football League. As we enter our last regular season game, I want to provide more insight on how and what is happening throughout the process.
Chcem, aby ste boli všetci informovaní o aktuálnom vývoji a budovacom procese Trnava Bulldogs. Momentálne sa v SFL nachádzame vo výbornej pozícii. Ako sa blížime k poslednému zápasu základnej časti, chcem Vám ponúknuť väčší náhľad do toho ako fungujeme.
Our team development is natural part of any organization and process if the goal is to improve and build for the future. We are currently improving and building new and better leaders every practice. The team and I have been extremely overall in this process. I will start with the Offense and how the team development has been improving. From a direct leadership spot our Quarterback rotation is finally settled and is being controlled by a young and talented player who has little experience but a great feeling for the game of American Football. His development over the course of the regular has been really good. He understands the situation of the game and prepares like a true champion should. He asks all the right questions and is now making better decisions with the ball, which leads to him managing the game in a good manner. He still has a lot to improve however he is the primary reason for the success we have gained from an offensive view.
Náš vývoj je prirodzenou časťou každej organizácie a naším cieľom je zlepšovať sa a stavať do budúcnosti. Momentálne na každom tréningu tvoríme nových a lepších lídrov. Ja a tím sme boli v tomto smere úspešní. Začnem našou Offense a priblížim Vám ako sa tím zlepšuje. Z pohľadu priameho vodcovstva sme konečne vyriešili otázku Quarterbacka a na tejto pozícii sa usadil mladý a talentovaný hráč, ktorý nemá toľko skúseností, ale za to má skvelý cit pre hru. Jeho vývoj počas sezóny je veľmi dobrý. Rozumie rozpoloženiu hry a pripravuje sa tak ako by sa šampión mal pripravovať. Pýta sa tie správne otázky a začal robiť lepšie rozhodnutia, čo mu umožňuje dobrým spôsobom kontrolovať hru. Ešte stále ho čaká dlhá cesta, avšak on je hlavnou príčinou nášho úspechu z pohľadu offense.
As we continue the next most important group is the Offensive Line who protect and provide running lanes for other players are the most under appreciated group however is working to be the most aggressive and communicative group on the field. We have the lack of luxury to not have a consistent OL which can and often times cause communication issues on game day, however I consider this group to have the most vocal leaders as starters with Senior playing experience. Our Center and Right Guard position are controlled by a consistent group of individuals who manage to teach and lead their counterpart on the offensive line. Along with these 2 leaders is our Left Guard (who is young) with great size, strength and the discipline to learn. And lastly our Right & Left Tackle positions, which are often times positions controlled by players who often rotate. The player development is important at every position but extremely important here for offensive linemen. Every practice the O-Line works basic blocking schemes and assist one another with the proper technique and communication so therefore any guy who is apart of the O-Line understands the basics. We are fortunate to have a consistent group however the progressive development is there as well as the constant communication. I admire the work these guys do every practice.
Ako pokračujeme, druhou najdôležitejšou skupinou sú Ofenzívni Linemeni, ktorí bránia Quarterbacka, otvárajú cestu pre ďalších hráčov a sú najmenej docenenou skupinou, avšak stávajú sa našou najagresívnejšou a najlepšie komunikujúcou skupinou na ihrisku. Nemáme ten luxus konzistentnej OL, čo vedie ku problémom pri komunikácii počas zápasu, ale podľa mňa má táto skupina najvýrečnejších vodcov, ktorí majú skúsenosti zo seniorskej súťaže ako starteri. Naše pozície Centra a Pravého Guarda sú obsadené konzistentnou dvojicou ľudí, ktorí vedú a učia svojich spoluhráčov na OL. Popri týchto 2 lídroch hrá náš Ľavý Guard (ktorý je mladý) so skvelými proporciami, silou a disciplínou sa učiť. A nakoniec pozície Pravý a Ľavý Tackle, ktoré sú často obsadené hráčmi, ktorí rotujú. Vývoj hráčov je veľmi dôležitý na akejkoľvek pozícii avšak extrémne dôležitý pre OL. Na každom tréningu OL pracujeme na základných blokovacích schémach, pomáhajú si navzájom so správnou technikou a komunikáciou a preto ktorýkoľvek hráč, ktorý je súčasťou OL, rozumie základom. Nemáme šťastie na konzistentnú skupinu, ale hráči ukazujú konštantnú komunikáciu a vývoj. Obdivujem prácu , ktorú odvedú títo chlapi na každom tréningu.
Next, I will discuss our Running Backs and after our Wide Receivers. Both positions are controlled by players with American Football experience but very little and limited. Our RB’s are also a inconsistent group however they manage to be lead by a strong and determined leader who does a great job of understand the Offensive Line who block from the Running Backs. We run very simple plays and if the RB’s read and see the proper gap or “hole” it can lead to a very positive or “big gain” of yardage. Unfortunately, we do not have multiple RB’s to rotate, we are limited to 2-3 player who understand and want to run the football. Our development at running comes by way of experience, there is no substitute or replacement for “live” actions during practice or on game day. Running backs most have great timing, vision, speed and footwork. Earlier in the season we were having turnover issues and protecting the football (fumbles/hand-offs) and through hard work and drills we have not been and that position and it has improved the confidence of the players and coach when calling running plays. Our RB’s have also improved their hand-eye coordination also making themselves targets for the QB (Quarterback) to throw too. We still need to improve and we are looking forward to that each practice.
Následne rozoberiem našich Running Backov a Wide Receiverov. Na oboch pozíciách nastupujú hráči s malými skúsenosťami. Naši RBs tiež nie sú konzistentnou skupinou, ale sú vedení silným a odhodlaným lídrom, ktorý odvádza skvelú prácu pri čítaní blokov od OL. Hráme veľmi jednoduché runnové hry a ak RB vidia a správne prečítajú dieru, môže to viesť k veľkým ziskom yardov. Nanešťastie nemáme viacero RBs, ktorých by sme mohli rotovať, sme limitovaní na 2-3 hráčov, ktorí rozumejú a chcú bežať s loptou. Náš vývoj prichádza so skúsenosťami, pretože neexistuje náhrada za „živé/zápasové“ akcie na tréningu alebo počas zápasu. RBs musia mať výborné načasovanie, prehľad, rýchlosť a prácu nôh. Na začiatku sme mali problém s bránením lopty a turnovermi, ale skrz tvrdú prácu a drilly sme tento problém odstránili a zároveň zdvihli dôveru hráčov a trénerov hrať runnové hry. Naši RBs zlepšili aj svoju koordináciu rúk a očí, čím sa stali terčom pre nášho Quarterbacka. Stále sa však potrebujeme zlepšovať a s tým ideme do každého tréningu.
Lastly, is the Wide Receiver position which has some but limited experience players. Even with limited experience our WR’s have made good plays and have shown some understanding of American Football. We are still improving as a group and individuals. Early in the season the hand-eye coordination was very poor and we could catch the football very well, which limited the play calling and also lowered the confidence of the players and QB… Through the progressive development of the players at WR and the QB, our WR/QB relationship has improved a lot. The Wide Receivers are lead by a Senior with solid American Football experience who helps with the development of the WR Corps. Assisting the cast is a mature (TE) Tight End/Slot Receiver with solid hands, a former QB with good route running and a developing group of new talent.
Nakoniec naši WRs, pozícia ktorá má hráčov s nejakými avšak limitovanými skúsenosťami. Ale aj s limitovanými skúsenosťami, naši WRs predviedli dobré hry a ukázali, že do určitej miery rozumejú americkému footballu. Stále sa zlepšujeme ako skupina aj ako jednotlivci. Na začiatku sezóny bola naša koordinácia rúk a očí veľmi slabá, nevedeli sme dobre chytať loptu, čo limitovalo našu voľbu hier počas zápasu a viedlo k strate sebavedomia hráčov aj QB. Skrz progresívne zlepšovanie WR a QB, naša chémia medzi WR a QB sa veľmi zlepšila. WR sú vedení lídrom so solídnymi skúsenosťami, ktorý pomáha zlepšovať celú skupinu. Tejto zostave asistujú zrelý TE/Slot receiver so solídnymi rukami, bývalý QB s dobrým route running (spôsob akým hráč beží routy) a zlepšujúca sa skupina nových talentovaných hráčov.
Overall, In order the get to the position and place that we are in currently in the Slovak American Football League it has taken personal/player development, practice and patience. I am proud of the effort my guys are giving every practice. Each day is a new opportunity to improve as a person and football player. The journey is not over yet and we must contain a our composer and continue to improve out #Team #Chemistry. From an Offensive point of view we are still identifying ourselves every game. We can be better and that’s the right mentality to have if we want to be #Championship!
Celkovo, dostať sa do pozície, v ktorej sa momentálne nachádzame v SFL, si vyžadovalo osobné zlepšovanie hráčov, cvik a trpezlivosť. Som hrdý na snahu, ktorú ukazujú moji chalani na každom tréningu. Každý deň je nová príležitosť sa zlepšiť ako človek aj ako hráč. Naša cesta sa ešte neskončila, musíme udržať našu duchaprítomnosť a stále zlepšovať náš #TÍM a #CHÉMIU. Z pohľadu offense stále hľadáme svoju identitu. Vieme byť lepší a to je mentalita, ktorú musíme mať, ak chceme byť #ŠAMPIÓNI.

Today I will be sharing the team development process on behalf of the Trnava Bulldogs Defense as well as its personal/players.
Similarly, the Defensive side of the ball has a couple of positions with new or young athletes who lack experience yet contribute a great deal of time and action in those positions.

Dnes sa s Vami podelíť o náhľad na vývoj našej Defense ako aj jej hráčov.
Podobne (ako Offense) aj v Defense máme zopár mladých hráčov, ktorým zatiaľ chýbajú skúsenosti, ale zato prispievajú svojím časom a prístupom.
To begin I would like to start upfront where most of the action in the game of football is won “The Trenches” better known as the Defensive Line (D-Line). When it comes to being explosive and creating a play the defensive line is where the battle of Football is either won or loss. We have the ability to rotate a group of guys with experience along with guys who are unfamiliar to the game during practice and game time. In my opinion the D-Line is lead by a young veteran Defensive End (DE) who plays with a ton of energy and excitement, followed by a couple undersized yet tough and strong Defensive Tackles (DT’s) who between the both of them are wise and elusive enough to create problems for the opposing offensive lineman. At the other DE position we rotate young players who are eager to show that they can play on the senior level and they have been producing on the football field when they are given the opportunity to play. That’s an exciting feeling as a coach to watch your future develop right before your eyes every weekend.
Chcel by som začať vpredu, kde sa vo footballe vyhráva väčšina akcií, „The Trenches“ alebo viac známe ako Defensive Line (D-Line). Ak sa bavíme o výbušnosti a vytváraní hier, D=Line je to miesto, kde sa vyhrávajú alebo prehrávajú zápasy. Počas tréningov a zápasov máme možnosť rotovať skupinu hráčov so skúsenosťami so skupinou hráčov bez nich. Podľa môjho názoru je D-Line vedená mladým veteránom, ktorý hrá s obrovskou energiou a nadšením, nasledovaný dvojicou „menších“, ale zato silných Defensive Tacklov (DT’s), ktorí sú múdri a vrtkí natoľko, aby spôsobovali problémy Offense linemenom z opačného tímu. Na druhej pozícii DE rotujeme mladých hráčov, ktorí chcú ukázať, že môžu hrať na seniorskej úrovni, čo preukazujú pr každej príležitosti, keď sú na ihrisku. Pre trénera je to výborný pocit , keď vidí, ako sa každý týždeň mladý talent vyvíja priamo pred jeho očami.
Although some guys are not able to consistently attend every practice, it has not fully changed the chemistry or production on the Defensive Line. There is still a great amount of things for this group of players to learn, however it is a positive to see that they are learning and understanding fast as well as accepting the proper coaching provided. As the season continues, I believe this group of athletes will be our most aggressive group of players.
Aj keď niektorí hráči nedokážu byť pravidelne na každom tréningu, chémiu alebo produktivitu Defensive Line to veľmi neovplyvnilo. Túto skupinu čaká ešte veľké množstvo vecí, ktoré sa musia naučiť, avšak je pozitívom, že sa rýchlo učia a rozumejú ako aj to, že sa nechajú správne koučovať. Ako napreduje sezóna, verím, že táto skupina hráčov bude našou najagresívnejšou.
Moving on to the next group of players which are our Linebackers(LB’s), also the center of the our defense. The Linebacker core was lead by a veteran and experienced player who unfortunately, due to a mid-season injury, has been held out for the previous 3-4 weeks of the regular season. Not having the veteran experience and leadership on the defensive side of the ball hurt the Bulldogs vs the opposing teams run game. Nevertheless the defense answered back with guys stepping up to the challenge by preparing and holding one another accountable. The Linebacking core is lead with a group effort of rotating linebackers, some with real game day experience and one with a year of experience and quickly learning the game. I am excited to see the development of this group continue to mature and be more aggressive. With a shortage of coaches, this group suffers from not having the personal coaching and teaching. As the season continues I will assure to attend the proper needs of the position and assist with their development. There is always room for improvement and that is our goal to improve every opportunity we have.
Ďalšou skupinou hráčov sú naši Linebackeri (LB’s) alebo aj centrum našej Defense. Jadro linebackerov vedie skúsený veterán, ktorý nanešťastie kvôli zraneniu chýbal v posledných 3-4 týždňoch základnej časti. Absencia týchto skúseností a vodcovstva chýbala Bulldogs proti runnovej hre súperov. Odpoveďou na túto situáciu bolo to, že ďalší hráči prijali výzvu pripravovaním sa a prijatím zodpovednosti. Linebackeri sú vedení snahou rotovať linebackerov, niektorých so skúsenosťami z ťažkých zápasov a jedného s ročnými skúsenosťami, ktorý sa rýchlo učí. Teším sa, keď vidím, ako táto skupina dospieva a je viac agresívna. Táto skupina nemá osobného trénera , čo je spojené s nedostatkom trénerov. Ako pokračuje sezóna vyriešim potreby tejto skupiny a pomôžem s ich vývojom. Vždy je priestor sa zlepšovať a to je náš cieľ, zlepšiť sa každou možnosťou, ktorú dostaneme.
Finally, we move on the Secondary also known as the Defensive Backs (DB’s). This has the be our most experienced and sharpest group of players and athletes on the entire Trnava Bulldogs team. With multiple guys being leaders and sharing the responsibility/roles as special teams players, the Secondary of the Bulldogs are the play-makers. Starting from the outside with the corners, which is a mixed group of talent ranging from a former National Teams veteran player who is hands down our best cover corner. He typical covers the opposing teams best or top wide receiver. He competes at a very high level which is expected. Followed by the talent of others who are competitors and challenge any receiver on the other side of the line of scrimmage. Our corners are smart, a bit undersized but compete every down. From top to bottom I would consider the Bulldogs Corner Backs (CB’s) the best in the league.
Nakoniec sa presunieme k našej Secondary alebo známych ako Defensive Backs(DB’s). Toto musí byť najbystrejšia a najskúsenejšia skupina hráčov v celom tíme Trnava Bulldogs. S viacerými lídrami, ktorí si rozdeľujú medzi sebou zodpovednosť a role v special tímoch, Secondary Trnavy Bulldogs sú play-makeri. Začínajúc zvonka od Cornerov, čo je pomiešaná skupina talentu, v rozsahu od bývalého hráča Národného tímu, ktorý je náš najlepší Cover Corner. Zvyčajne je nasadený proti najlepšiemu WR súpera. Hrá na vysokej úrovni, čo je od neho aj očakávané. Nasledujú ho ďalší talentovaní, ktorí vyzvú akéhokoľvek receivera z druhého tímu. Naši corneri sú múdri, trošku menší, ale hrajú každý down naplno. Celkovo považujem Corner Backs Trnavy Bulldogs za najlepších v lige.
Moving inside at the Strong Safety (SS) position we have the versatility of three veteran DB’s who are leaders and assist with supporting the run game, as well as contributing to making plays in the secondary when the ball is thrown. What is most impressive about the players in the (SS) position is that they must be players who read and react well. They always have to be in position on the field to assist either in run support or pass. These are aggressive players who sometimes over react or misread a play but through great effort and a positive attitude the players never give up and put themselves back into position to be play-makers. Solid tacklers and coverage is what makes these DB’s great. Although they are playing well we are always looking for ways to improve as a group and individuals.
Ak sa posunieme dovnútra na pozícii Strong Safety (SS) máme univerzálnosť 3 skúsených DB’s, ktorí sú lídrami, pomáhajú proti runnovej hre ako aj zákrokmi, keď je lopta hodená. Najpôsobivejšie na našich SS’s je, že musia vedieť, ktorého hráča čítať a správne na neho reagovať. Vždy musia byť v pozícii, kedy dokážu hrať či proti runovej alebo passovej hre. Sú to agresívni hráči, ktorí občas až príliš reagujú alebo neprečítajú hru, ale skrz veľkú snahu a pozitívny prístup sa nevzdávajú a sami seba posúvajú do pozícií, kde môžu byť play-makerami. Solídne tackle a coverage je to, čo robí DB výborným. Aj keď hrajú veľmi dobre, vždy hľadáme spôsob ako sa zlepšiť ako skupina aj jednotlivci.
Along with the secondary is the final position on defense which is our Free Safety (FS). He presents himself with the talent and dedication as you would like to see all players present. Putting 110% into every practice and learning from his mistakes which is what I like to see most; (outside of returning interceptions and punt returns for touchdowns). The signal caller of the defensive secondary at Free Safety is lead by an experience veteran at FS and Punt Returner. We are highly successful due to the exciting play making ability of this individual. The level in which he is playing at is second to none. I would consider him as well as our entire secondary the best Secondary in the league.
Poslednou pozíciou v secondary je náš Free Safety(FS). Prezentuje sa ako talent a oddanosť, ktorú by ste chceli vidieť u všetkých hráčov. Odovzdávanie 110% na každom tréningu a učenie sa z vlastných chýb je to, čo sa mi páči najviac (okrem tých TD z punt returnov a interceptions). Secondary je vedená skúseným FS a punt returnerom. Sme úspešní vďaka tvorivosti tohto hráča. Úroveň, na ktorej hrá, nemá páru. Jeho, rovnako ako aj celú našu Secondary, považujem za najlepšiu v lige.
With the regular season coming to an end, and semi-finals coming up the Trnava Bulldogs as a team and Club has to rise the bar of expectation and not fall short of any hopes or dreams we may have as individuals. We most finish the mission and prepare like so… My objective as Head Coach is to prepare and put the team in position to compete at its highest level and fight until the very end. Have no regrets and have fun coaching/playing the game we all love. No one is going to hand us the Slovak Championship Trophy, so we most take it!
Ako sa blíži koniec základnej časti a začiatok playoff, musíme ako tím a klub zvýšiť latku očakávania, aby sme dosiahli všetky nádeje a sny, ktoré máme ako jednotlivci. Musíme splniť misiu a adekvátne sa na to aj pripraviť… Mojím cieľom ako hlavného trénera je pripraviť a dostať tím do pozície, aby mohol hrať na najvyššej možnej úrovni a bojovať dokonca. Nič neľutovať a zabávať sa hraním/koučovaním tejto hry, ktorú všetci zbožňujeme. Nikto nám trofej v lige nedaruje, musíme si ju vziať!
In conclusion, we appreciate our families, friends and all our fans for supporting the Trnava Bulldogs Club. We would also like to invite any young members/athletes who are (age 15-20 years) interested in trying out for American Football. We hold Juniors practice during the weekend at Energo from 3:00pm-5:30pm. There is always space and opportunity for guys looking to grow and develop and most importantly learn more about American Football. It’s always a pleasure to share new information about the Trnava Bulldogs American Football Club.
Na záver, ceníme si našich rodín, priateľov a všetkých fanúšikov podporujúcich Trnava Bulldogs. Rovnako by sme chceli pozvať všetkých potencionálnych hráčov vo veku 15-20, ktorí majú záujem venovať sa americkému footballu. Tréningy sú každý víkend v sobotu na Energu v čase 15:00-17:30. Vždy je priestor a možnosť pre ľudí, ktorí sa chcú zlepšovať, rásť a najmä učiť sa o americkom footballe. Vždy je potešením podeliť sa o informácie o klube Trnava Bulldogs.
